As Spring begins again new flowers and fruits start to bloom. Welcome this new season with your little one by making a freakshake from seasonal fruits. Blend strawberries and raspberries for a treat that your kids will love and take the opportunity to teach them about eco-friendly eating.
When we eat foods that are out of season it is more likely they have travelled from somewhere far away, where the climate is different. However, if we eat in season foods we can reduce our carbon footprint (because our food doesn’t have to travel so far).
We know one freakshake won’t save the world, but we do believe little changes can make a big difference!
Makes 1 freakshake.
1 Put the milk and yoghurt into a blender (or a jug if you’re using a handheld blender).
2 Add the chopped banana, raspberries, and strawberries (set aside three larger strawberries for step 3!), then blend until thick and smooth. If you’d like to make your freakshake a little sweeter, add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey and blend again.
3 Cut the three larger strawberries into slices and arrange them at the bottom of the kilner jar. Push additional pieces of fruit onto the top half of the skewers.
4 Carefully pour the milkshake into a kilner jar. Add the fruit skewers and some colourful straws. Then enjoy your refreshing fruity freakshake! Yum!
