Teach your kids about other cultures with our Mardi Gras craft! You can begin by reading them the information below to help them understand what Mardi Gras is…
Lots of different countries celebrate Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is the last day before Lent begins. During Lent some people fast (which means they don’t eat very much) for 40 days and 40 nights.
Mardi Gras is a big celebration where people have big parties and eat lots of food before this fasting begins, that’s why it’s called Mardi Gras (which is French for Fat Tuesday)!
During the Mardi Gras parades and parties people often dress up and wear masks. There are lots of colours and music, it’s a time to have fun and celebrate before Lent starts.
Why not make a Mardi Gras mask to get into the festive spirit? Just download our template and get decorating!
1 Download and print out the mask template. Stick it to a piece of thin card and cut out.
2 Paint the mask in a bright colour!

4 Decorate with glitter glue swirls.
5 Stick feathers to the top of your mask.
